Reference: DWI Related Motor Vehicle Collision and Arrest

On Saturday, 17 May, 2008 at 7:27am Officers from the Portsmouth Police Department responded to the Saratoga and Porpoise Way Intersection in the Atlantic Heights Development for a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival officers discovered a 1998 Ford Escort had collided with a telephone pole. The vehicle sustained extensive front end damage resulting in a full airbag deployment. Personnel from P.S.N.H responded and assessed the telephone which was deemed safe. The Operator and sole occupant of the vehicle:

was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for unknown injuries. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt. Investigation at the hospital determined probable cause existed to believe Mr. Small was operating under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled drugs at the time of the collision. Mr. Small was arrested and subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on $1000.00 personal recognizance bail. An arraignment date is scheduled in Portsmouth District Court on Tuesday, 16 June, 2008.
