PORTSMOUTH POLICE PRESS RELEASE
January 26, 2009
Service Credit Union Scam
The Portsmouth Police Department wishes to alert city residents of a credit card / account fraud taking place on the seacoast.
Today the Department took several complaints from area residents of automated telephone calls requesting their credit card and/ or account information. An automated voice identifies itself as being from the Service Credit Union, advises that your account has been put on hold, and then requests that you enter your account number.
At this time our information is limited, but we strongly recommend you do not enter any account information upon receiving a similar call. If you have additional information on this crime please contact, Ofc. Christina Meyer at 610-610-7514.
