Attack:
RYE — Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly chased a woman on Sawyer's Beach Saturday April 15.

Rye Police Lt. Kevin Walsh said that on April 15, between 3:30 and 4 p.m. a woman was walking her dog on the beach when she was approached by a white man. As she tried to walk away, the man followed her to her vehicle and tried to prevent her from closing the door.

Another unidentified person saw the woman needed help and yelled at the man, distracting him, Walsh said. The woman was then able to close her car door and drive away.

Walsh described the suspect as wearing khaki pants, sandals and a navy blue short-sleeved shirt.

With help from the Portsmouth Police Department, authorities were able to generate a composite sketch of the suspect, Walsh said. He said the man's eyes are larger that they are in the composite, and that the alleged victim described them as "piercing." He also has a dimple in his chin, Walsh said.

Walsh said the man was wanted on a simple assault charge.

"There was some unprivileged contact," Walsh said, declining to elaborate.

In addition to the suspect, Walsh said police were also hoping to locate the other identified person who is said to have helped the woman so that they can get his account of the incident.

Walsh asks anyone who might have information about the incident to contact the Rye Police Department at 964-5522.
