1. Fill out a Reading Buddy Helper Form.
2. Sign up for the day(*s) you will participate.
- Arrive when you are scheduled. Be on time.
- Ask staff for help choosing books.
- Practice reading a book aloud several times before you read it to a buddy.
- Hold the book so your buddy can see the pictures and follow along while you read.
- If your buddy is learning to read, ask if he/she would like to practice reading to you.
- Take turns reading a page.
- Be patient.
- Listen without interrupting while your buddy reads to you.
- Assist only if he/she is really “stuck”
- If you have fun, your buddy will have fun, too!
