Electronic Resources-Remote Access
The electronic resources listed below are available via the Internet outside the Library to holders of valid Portsmouth Public Library cards. In order to use these resources, you will need to type your library card number in the space provided on the first page of each resource you select.
Large databases of magazine and newspaper indexes, abstracts and full text articles:
- EBSCOhost a family of indexes to help find articles in general interest magazines, business journals, consumer health publications, and newspapers
- InfoTrac indexing for more than 20 million magazine and newspaper articles, updated daily
Business databases:
- Mergent Online detailed information on 15,000 public companies, industry data, SEC and company reports
- ReferenceUSA-directory of 12 million U. S. businesses and 120 million U.S. households

- HealthSource-Consumer Edition full text of nearly 200 health-related journals and newsletters
- World Book online version of the popular encyclopedia, plus dictionary, atlas, and other resources
- LearnATest individual accounts for practicing academic and vocational tests
- NoveList-help in choosing fiction by author, genre, setting, story, and more
