Downloadable Audio Books
The Library offers free access to e-audio books through a service named OverDrive. This service is available 24/7 and is accessible from the convenience of your home or office computer.
With a Portsmouth Public Library card, you can download titles to a computer that runs Windows 98 SE, 2000, ME, XP, or Vista and supports Windows Media Player version 9.0 and above. In addition, some titles can now also be downloaded to Macintosh computers. Click here to see a brief presentation about how to get started using OverDrive if you own a Macintosh computer.
You can also transfer your favorite titles to a wide range of portable devices such as MP3 players, music players, media centers, Pocket PCs and smartphones. Some titles can now also be transferred to an iPod. Some titles may be burned to CD, if the publisher permits.

NH Downloadable Audio Books Service, by OverDrive
With downloadable e-audio books from OverDrive, browse hundreds of bestselling titles, download them to your computer, transfer them to a portable device, or burn selected titles onto a CD for listening on the go.
The first time that you check out materials from OverDrive, you will be provided with instructions to download the software that you need.
The e-audio books from OverDrive are checked out for 7 days. Titles cannot be renewed, but can be checked out again if available when the checkout expires. Most titles can only be checked out to one user at a time. Holds can be placed on items that are in use. See OverDrive’s online help for more information.
