Portsmouth Historical Society

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has named Portsmouth as one of its “Dozen Distinctive Designations” for 2008.

Portsmouth is only the second city in New Hampshire to earn this distinction since the program began in 2000.

Each year, the National Trust for Historic Preservation selects 12 vacation destinations across the United States that offer an authentic visitor experience by combining dynamic downtowns, cultural diversity, attractive architecture, cultural landscapes and a strong commitment to historic preservation and revitalization.
