This program assists individuals with disabilities to be independent in their own homes by providing grants for accessibility improvements.   

Eligible improvements include . . .
Widening doorways, building ramps, installing lifts, and making bathrooms accessible.

A family of individual is eligible if . . .

·         They own a home in Portsmouth;

·         They earn a low or moderate income; and

·         A family member has a disability.

Handicapped Accessible Curb Cuts at Keefe House on Islington Street

The Curb Cut Program is an ongoing effort to improve the accessibility of local sidewalks.  Since 1994 more than 4 dozen curb cuts have been constructed in the downtown area by removing curbs and installing gently sloping concrete ramps.
