Reference: Graffiti Arrests
March 24, 2006
On March 24th 2006 at about 9:45 P.M. Patrol Officers Timothy Black and Charles Raizes of the Portsmouth Police Department were on routine patrol on State Street when they observed three juvenile males standing in the vicinity a traffic control box. These juveniles were in the act of vandalizing city owed property by writing Graffiti on the traffic control box. Arrested at the scene were two fourteen year old boys and a thirteen year old boy. They were transported to the Portsmouth Police Department where their parents were called to take custody of them.
In further investigation of this incident other acts of graffiti were discovered to have been committed by these same individuals earlier in the evening. The words “Zero” “Zag” and “Jolt” were written on street signs and on some private property in the downtown area. The names of the juveniles are not being release due to their age. They will be petitioned to Portsmouth Family Court at a later time.
Anyone having any information about this incident or if you believe you are a victim of this crime, you are encouraged to contact the Portsmouth Police Department. The Portsmouth Police Department will continue with proactive, directed patrols of the downtown area, and reminds the public that crimes can be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 431-1199.
