On September 9, 2009 the Portsmouth Police Commission voted unanimously to promote Patrol Officer Scott Study to the rank of Portsmouth Police Detective.
Detective Study started his career with the Portsmouth NH Police Department in 2001. Prior to this he worked with the Lebanon, New Hampshire Police Department. Detective Study is a member of the Seacoast Emergency Response Team, the Accident Investigation Team, Drug Recognition Unit, Motorcycle Unit, and recently has become an assistant advisor to the Explorer Program. Detective Study has been actively involved with the elderly community and others in the Margeson and Feaster Apartment buildings. “Working in Patrol has been the highlight of my career and I’ll miss the daily interaction with the residents of both apartment buildings”.
Detective Study graduated from Dean Junior College with an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, and from Plymouth State College with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.
Detective Study is married with four children.
Deputy Chief Stephen DuBois has assigned Detective Study to serve as the Middle School and Robert J. Lister Academy Resource Officer.
