Reference: Armed Robbery

On August 19, 2008 at approximately 8:00 pm the Portsmouth Police Department received a call from the management of Market Basket located on Lafayette Rd that employees were attempting to detain two shoplifters. During this incident one of the suspects displayed a knife to the employees and both suspects fled the store.

Officer Pearl and K-9 Wess were close by when this call came in and were able to detain both suspects in a nearby parking lot until back up units arrived. There were no reported injuries during this crime. Arrested were:

He is charged with Attempted Theft and Armed Robbery

Steven B Morin
340 Lafayette St apt 111 Hampton NH
41 years old
He is charged with Attempted Theft and Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon

Both Montgomery and Morin will be arraigned in Portsmouth District Court on August 20th 2008.
