The public is invited to attend a basketball game on Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 at 6:00 PM at the South Mill Pond courts located on Junkins Avenue, across from the Portsmouth Police Department. Officers from the Portsmouth Police Department will be playing against members of the Friends Project, a team comprised of special needs adolescents.
The Portsmouth Police Department is running a basketball league for seacoast youths this summer three nights a week. Wednesday night games are for special needs youths, Thursday nights are for middle school girls at the New Heights gym, and Friday nights are for middle school boys at the South Mill Pond courts. Boys and girls who are entering their first year of high school are also included in this league. The games start each night at 6:00 PM, and admission to the public is free.
The Portsmouth Police Department summer basketball league is being coordinated by Detective Robert Munson and Detective Aaron Goodwin, who are the Portsmouth High School and Portsmouth Middle School Resource Officers respectively during the regular school year.
