Reference: POLICE SUMMER YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUES
The Portsmouth Police Department will once again sponsor summer youth basketball leagues. This year’s leagues will be for both school age boys and girls, specifically grades 5, 6, 7 and 8. This includes boys and girls who have just completed grade 8. Any child enrolled in the Portsmouth School system is eligible to play. The following are details of the program.
Boys:
There will be a skills assessment clinic on Thursday June 5 at the Portsmouth High School from 1830-2000. Teams will be selected and team shirts will be issued.
The league game nights will be held every Friday night at 1800 hours starting Friday July 11 through August 22.
All games will be held at the South Playground outdoor courts. (Connie Bean Center in the event of rainy weather)
Girls:
There will be a skills assessment clinic on Thursday June 5 at the Portsmouth High School from 1700-1830. Teams will be selected and team shirts will be issued.
The league game nights will be held every Thursday night at 1800 hours starting Thursday July 10 through Thursday August 21. All games will take place at the New Heights gymnasium.
Athletes with special needs who are members of the Friends Project are invited to play on Wednesday Nights at the South Playground starting at 1800 hours on July 9, and continuing each Wednesday through August 20th (the New Heights gymnasium will be available in the event of rainy weather).

There is a $25 fee to play. Please make checks out to the Portsmouth Police Athletic League (boy's or girls). Checks can be mailed to the Portsmouth Police Department or dropped off to the respective School Resource Officer.
