Reference: Promotion to Captain
The Portsmouth Police Commission voted unanimously last night to promote Lieutenant. Stephen DuBois to the rank of Captain in Patrol.
Captain DuBois is a New Hampshire native and has over 17 years of law enforcement experience, beginning his career as a part-time officer with the Hampton Police, UNH Police and Portsmouth Police Auxiliary. He began his full time police career in Portsmouth in 1993 and has worked steadily in the patrol and detective divisions, to include supervision assignments. He is the Coordinator of the STEP Program and has been intimately involved in initiatives such as Sobriety Checkpoints. He is the acting Commander of the Seacoast Emergency Response Team and the Commander of Operations for the FTO Program.
Originally from Dover, he graduated from the University if New Hampshire with a Sociology Degree and has a Masters in Business Administration degree from Southern New Hampshire University. He is the incoming President of the New Hampshire Police Association, and has served on many boards and committees specifically on issues relating to Homeland Security.
He brings a varied range of experience to his new assignment and looks forward to being part of the growth of the department into the 21st century.
