Portsmouth Citywide Neighborhood Committee
Hosts Citywide Block Party Open House

The National Night Out Annual Citywide Block Party is back!   Sponsored by the Portsmouth Police Department and the Citywide Neighborhood Committee, “National Night Out is a fun way to bring residents together and build pride in our City’s neighborhoods,” said Sharon Morrison, Chair of the Citywide Neighborhood Committee.  Each year, the Portsmouth Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works, City Council, and School Board take turns visiting the block party for each participating neighborhood.  The event is held every year on the second Tuesday in August.

An Open House is being held to provide information to Portsmouth residents who are interested in joining the party!  It will be held in the Levinson Room at the Portsmouth Library on May 20 at 7 pm.  Light refreshments will be served.

Veteran block party organizers from the Citywide Neighborhood Committee, individual neighborhoods, and other groups will be on hand to answer questions and provide suggestions.  If you would like to help your neighborhood join the Citywide Block Party, the Open House is the place to start.

The police department encourages all residents to participate in National Night Out and to attend the Open House on May 20th.  National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect with each other, and it is an opportunity for them to get to know the police officers who serve them each and every day.  The quality of life in our neighborhoods is increased greatly when we care about our neighbors.  National Night Out affords everyone an opportunity to do just that and the police department strongly urges residents to participate.

If you would like to participate but cannot make the Open House, contact Sharon Morrison, Portsmouth Citywide Steering Committee Chair at 603-512-7832 or sharonmorrison@comcast.net.

A Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee, the Citywide Neighborhood Committee “advocates for the neighborhoods in Portsmouth to assure that all aspects of City government work through two basic principles: protection and preservation of the quality of our neighborhoods.”  If your neighborhood would like to participate on the Committee, contact committee chair Sharon Morrison at sharonmorrison@comcast.net or 603-512-7832.
